TREATMENT PHILOSOPHY

The key to successful healing is a treatment philosophy that centres around your individual and unique needs. Our goal is to optimize your rehabilitation journey to encourage best outcomes.

I assess and treat the whole person. My role as a therapist is to guide my clients through their healing process. This is achieved through a holistic treatment strategy that incorporates the physical, mental and emotional aspects of our interconnected system. These aspects of ourselves cannot be separated when addressing injuries as they are all governed by the same nervous system, each directly affecting the other.

The journey to recovery is equal parts treatment and management. To truly understand the nature and origin of an injury, we must think beyond reductive labels and vague explanations such as “strain” or “scar tissue”. The starting point of the healing process is not necessarily the injury itself, but lies in identifying the dysfunctional movement, posture or habit that led to the injury. Once we identify the dysfunctional pattern, we can customize a management strategy tailored to your individual needs that will create conditions for lasting and meaningful change.

Passive treatment, which occurs on the table, is an important component of rehab and helps jump start the healing process. But passive treatment alone will not create long term change in the body and is therefore incomplete. Complete resolution of injuries requires a balanced approach to treatment that includes both a passive and active component. But before we can introduce the active component, there must be a shift in mindset that includes an awareness of one’s faulty postural and movement habits. Once this occurs, we can recalibrate the dysfunctional movement pattern to a more optimal one through consistent practice, thereby allowing one’s full potential of strength and mobility to be expressed.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT DURING A SESSION

During your initial session, we’ll go over your medical history in order to ascertain anything that might be relevant to the injury.

All services offered are in a one-on-one setting.

You will receive my full and undivided attention during each and every session, without interruption.

Table treatment is predominantly ‘hands on’ for the therapist and passive for the client. If the treatment is an active rehabilitation session, then the therapist is alongside you, coaching your movement and providing feedback.
